Grand Reopening March 27, 2015

You don’t need a reservation to step into our authentic 18th-century alehouse. Order from our all day fare menu and catch up on the town gossip with a bottle of root beer, glass of wine, or mug of ale—including our historic brews. When the weather’s nice, take your drinks and conversation outside, under the arbor!

Beers in the Burg

Join us Saturday, April 18 for Beers in the ’Burg. Tickets are only $25 per person and include samples of 10 different beers along with a souvenir glass. Food is also available for purchase—lite fare designed by our talented Colonial Williamsburg chefs.

Kick back and enjoy a true 18th-century alehouse experience. Join us under the arbor outside Chowning's Tavern to sample 10 different brews from Williamsburg Alewerks, including three recipes made exclusively for Colonial Williamsburg. Rub elbows with the master brewer while you enjoy light fare from a selected menu. Items are served à la carte and are not included in your ticket price.

Chowning’s Tavern is located at 109 E. Duke of Gloucester St. in the heart of Colonial Williamsburg’s Historic Area. Free parking is available in the tavern parking lot located on Francis Street just west of Blair Street any time, or after 5 p.m. in the employee parking lot located on Franklin Street just east of Botetourt Street, accessible from Lafayette Street.

All hours, prices, and menu items are subject to change.
Wheelchair lift available to main level from north entrance of building. Accessible restroom on main level. No elevator; garden dining with no steps, weather permitting; three steps into tavern; partial railing. Located in Historic Area. No accessible parking nearby.
