Located in Merchants Square, the Kimball Theatre is home to current films and live performances. On any given day, you might see a Colonial Williamsburg interpreter portray Patrick Henry or enjoy a jazz ensemble of talented students from the College of William and Mary. Perhaps the Peninsula's Jewish Film Festival is in town, or maybe you'll see players performing an 18th-century Grand Medley of Entertainments. Whatever your tastes, the Kimball Theatre is at the center of Williamsburg's community activities. Creative programming alliances with the College of William and Mary, community organizations, and Colonial Williamsburg link our past with the present.

Today at the Kimball Theatre:
In Bruges
May 13, 2008 6:45 PM
Fri., May 9–Wed., May 14
Shows at 6:45 and 8:45 p.m.
Rated: R
Academy Award-winning writer/director Martin McDonagh makes his feature directorial debut with his own original screenplay. Bruges is the most well-preserved medieval city in the whole of Belgium, and for hit men Ray (Colin Farrell) and Ken (Brendan Gleeson) it could be their final destination. They have been ordered to remain there by their boss (Ralph Fiennes), but they’re very much out of place. The longer they stay, the more surreal their experience becomes. May 9–10, 12–13 screening room. 107 mins.

Taxi to the Dark Side
May 13, 2008 7:00 PM
Tues., May 13–Sun., May 18
Shows at 7 and 9 p.m.
Rated: R
Taxi to the Dark Side, this year’s Oscar-winning documentary film, establishes Alex Gibney as one of the foremost nonfiction filmmakers working today. A stunning inquiry into the death of an Afghani taxi driver at Bagram air base in 2002, the film is a fastidiously assembled, uncommonly well-researched examination, intermingling documents and records of the incident with candid testimony from eyewitnesses and participants. Winner of the Documentary Screenplay Award at the 2008 Writers Guild of America. May 14–17 screening room. 106 mins.

Crystal Concert
May 14, 2008 11:30 AM

Dean Shostak performs an exciting concert featuring music and stories of Benjamin Franklin’s glass armonica. This multimedia concert also includes spectacular new and antique glass instruments such as the glass grand harmonicon, glass violin, glass handbells, and glass bowed psaltery.

Performances at 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

Tickets $7.
