Del’s Tip of the Month
Del Snyder PGA Teaching Professional
What would Del do?
You are playing the second hole on the Golden Horseshoe Gold Course. You have driven the ball approximately 270-290 yards and you’re faced with a downhill lie approximately 180-200 yards from the green. How would you play the shot to get across the water and on the green in two?
To achieve the greatest success, play the ball back toward your right foot and open your stance. This puts you in position to cut the ball. You hit down through the ball (like the downward slope of the ground) and your swing should finish three quarters of the way up the body. With a solid hit, your ball will land on the green in position for eagle, birdie, or, at the very least, an easy par.
