When is Trick-or Treating?

Friday, October 25th and Saturday, October 26th from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm

How do I register for Trick-or Treating?

You can register online through the Colonial Williamsburg website. Trick-or-treating registration is limited, and requires a $6 ticket per trick-or-treater and a $3 ticket for each adult parent or guardian. Participating children must be accompanied by a legally responsible adult. $3 adult parent or guardian tickets includes access to all the entertainment and activities, but do not include bags for Trick or Treating. Ticketed adults will be given wristbands to enter the event.

Ticket purchases support Colonial Williamsburg’s educational mission.

What do I do with my Trick-or-Treating confirmation letter?

Start by parking at the Colonial Williamsburg Regional Visitor Center. Inside, you can pick up the Mars Trick-or-Treating Bag and tickets for any other experiences you have ordered. Then, board the Spooky Bus for your trip to the Historic Area. Please allow 30 minutes to check in, receive your bags and wristbands, board the buses and get to the entry point into the Historic Area, so please plan accordingly.

Keep an eye on our website and social media platforms for any updates on the event.

Can we bring our own bag for Trick-or-Treating?

No, candy will only be distributed to guests with the MARS Trick-or-Treating Bag provided with your registration.

Can I pick up my Mars Trick-or-Treating Bag and tickets in advance?

No. MARS Trick-or-Treating Bags can only be picked up the day of your registered ticket at the Colonial Williamsburg Regional Visitor Center.

Can my family attend in costumes?

Yes. All guests are encouraged to attend the Trick or Treating events in costume. For the safety and security of our guests, masks for adults are not permitted.

Where should I park? Is there a bus system?

Free parking is available at the Visitor Center. Free bus rides to the Haunting on DoG Street Trick or Treating Events and other Evening Programs are available. Buses run until 10 p.m. nightly.

Where is the entry point for Trick-or-Treating?

All ticketed guests will enter the Trick or Treating experience on Duke of Gloucester Street and Botetourt Street. Children must have their Trick or Treating bags and adults must have wristbands to enter the experience.

Where can we board the bus back to the Visitors Center?

Free return trip buses can be boarded at the Magazine Bus Stop on the corner of Francis Street.

How do I change/add to my order?

If you need to change your order, please dial our Call Center at 1-866-921-8546.

My child has allergies. Can they still participate in Trick or Treating?

Yes! If your child has food allergies, not to worry. We’re once again teaming up with Food Allergy Research & Education (FARE) to participate in the Teal Pumpkin Project. In addition to trick-or-treat sites with regular candy, we’ll have special sites—teal pumpkins and signs make them easy to spot—handing out non-chocolate items like Skittles and Starburst as well as nonfood treats like spider rings, plastic fingers, and stickers.

Will there be food and drinks for sale at the Trick or Treating event?

Yes. Food and beverages including AMERICAN HERITAGE Chocolate items such as hot chocolate and baked goods will be available for purchase at the Charlton Coffee House and on the south side of the Capitol building.

Public bathrooms for the event are located behind the Pitt Store on Botetourt St and between the east side of the Capitol building and Waller St.

Where can we buy Haunting on DoG Street gifts and souvenirs at the Trick or Treating event?

The William Pitt store located on corner of Duke of Gloucester Street and Botetourt Street near the event entrance is the best place to find all Halloween related merchandise for sale.

What happens if the Trick or Treating event is cancelled due to inclement weather?

In the event of unsafe conditions due to inclement weather, the cancelled evening’s Trick or Treating event would be rescheduled for either Sunday, October 27th or Monday, October 28th.
