A Place to Explore

We invite you to a place of beginnings, where the idea of our country is being born. A place where stories of different cultures and backgrounds are shared by the once silenced, the once invisible. Hear the stories of men and women, free and enslaved, who defied odds and helped make America. Their stories are still being told. Be a part of the American story at Colonial Williamsburg.

"I became interested in blacksmithing in high school and was always involved in building things and understanding how things worked. I also loved history. Now, at the Anderson Blacksmith Shop, I get to do both. I'd love to show you the skill and precision hand work and the role of women in industry of the 18th century. The creativity and understanding of form and function is inspiring."
